day 16

There’s no glory in picking up litter on a cold, rainy day. Only wet plastic bags dripping water onto your mesh shoes which you probably shouldn’t be wearing on a rainy day in January.

And after you tote your twins and your reusable bags into the supermarket where it takes longer to use the bathroom then to pick out your purchases. And despite the cloth bags the woman who bundles your groceries still puts your Cheddar Bunnies into a plastic bag, probably because they were in a cardboard box and she didn’t want them to crush your pears, and you don’t have the heart to say anything because you’re coming down with a runny nose and a sore throat and your shoes are wet. So you take your reusable bags and your soul-sucking plastic bag and you leave -feeling defeated.

I understand when they put cleaning products or something wet in a plastic bag, even though I bring my own for produce. Putting the Cheddar Bunnies in a bag makes zero sense though. And there is a joke in our house that you can’t go shopping without Cheddar Bunnies since we always have a small container of them for the munchkin when we go grocery shopping.

Agreed. One shouldn’t leave the house w/o a supply of Cheddar Bunnies on hand (although sometimes to be cost effective we mix them with their lesser-quality counterpart Goldfish).
I was too tired, wet, and coming down with something to argue with the bagger. I assume it was so as not to crush the pears although in reality the pears were rock hard so little harm would have been done. Plastic bags from Windfall say they are biodegradable – but I find that hard to believe.
